NCeSS is the UK's 'National Centre for e-Social Science'.
NCeSS are hosting a showcase event on 16th January in Manchester, further information at

In either case the NCeSS website contains information on their activities / research,

If you haven't previously looked at what is involved in 'e-Social Science' it is worth checking sometime, since there are many facilities related to this approach which are useful to social survey researchers.
Admittedly, Vernon and I have a vested interest, since we also have a project just getting started in which we will be using 'e-Social Science' approaches (toward 'data management' operations such as combining data files and working on variable operationalisations).
We would happily talk further on this with members of the SSSN sometime if there is interest..!
